Does your recovery need a little something extra? A shot in the recovery arm if you will?   Have you ever dreamed of running (or walking) a marathon or a half marathon? What’s holding you back? Possibly the thought of aching knees, blisters, finishing in the dark, or not finishing at all? Oh yeah … this is NOT that.

12 STEPS IN 12 HOURS Sunday, April 21st we’re taking Samson and the 12 Steps to the streets. Join the society in the inaugural Samson Society Recovery Marathon! It is achievable for everyone and it is MORE than a simple marathon.   With every step you take in this marathon the 12 Steps will make more sense. In the Samson Society Recovery Marathon you will hear from twelve experts on the 12 Steps in 12 hours (Samson’s seven step Path is a distillation of the 12 Steps).   We’re calling it 12 in 12.   The whole event will be on Zoom. You just log onto the Zoom meeting, leave it on throughout the day and check in at the top of the hour for the presentation. The day will look like this (times given are in Central Time): 7:00 AM  First presentation 7:10 AM    Run/walk two miles for the Half or four for the Full marathon 7:40 AM   Journal 7:50 AM   Rest, hydrate, food, change socks, etc. 8:00 AM   Next presentation 8:10 AM    Run/walk ONE mile for the Half or TWO miles for the Full 8:30 AM   Journal 8:40 AM   Rest, hydrate, food, change socks, etc. 9:00 AM   Next presentation and so on until 7:00PM By the end of the day you will have covered the 12 Steps in 12 hours, journaled on each, and run or walked a half or full marathon! It is not a competition - no timers, no comparisons, and no rules. Run or walk as much or as little as you wish - no one is looking. If you need to take a break, take it, if you want to take it slow, slow down. It’s just you and your recovery for the day. Of course, if you have some friends or family you’d like to join you, maybe your Samson group, that will increase the fun! The lineup of presenters is: A word about this event being on a Sunday. Yes, the Recovery Marathon is on a Sunday, as are most marathons. We do not want to take away from your Sabbath observation in any way, so attend a Saturday evening service or a Sunday evening service if you can. If that doesn’t work, by all means do what you need to do to keep the Lord first in your life. You can skip an hour or two, run to your church one hour and run back the next, or well, you get the idea. Cost: $145 (most marathons cost over $200 and all you get out of it is a cheesy medal and a t-shirt) GO FOR IT! LET’S DO THIS. REGISTER

Giving Up Shame for Lent (an excerpt from Chuck DeGroat) "You are dust."   Years ago, I thought that was synonymous with you are bad. But, what if it meant something more like You are of the earth.   You are humus. That's latin for earth, soil, ground . On Ash Wednesday, what I was really whispering was, "Be humbled. Return to the ground of your being.
